School Age Care

School-age care is care that is provided for children aged 5 years to 12 years of age. This type of care can be found in a public or private school setting, as well as in recreation centers, or child care centers. The centres are licensed by Community Care Facilities Licensing. Group sizes are determined by regulations regarding the age of the children.

Most programs run on a school-year calendar but many also offer summer, spring break, and Christmas programs.

School-age care can be provided in the afternoon (after school hours) and in the mornings (before school begins) and on Professional Development Days. Some programs also offer Kindercare. In some cases, transportation is provided as well.
