The Sandbox Development Group is a group of non-profit agencies who are working with Success By 6 to collaborate on enhancing the highly desirable family resource programs provided in seven neighborhoods from Lake Country south to Peachland.
As of April 2010 there has been an increase in the number of days existing programs are running and in other places new programs are being created in neighborhoods where none existed previously.
The Sandbox Developers are Kelowna Child Care Society, Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs, The Bridge Youth & Family Services, and Westbank First Nation - Community Services.
This program enhancement known as the “Sandbox Project” is made possible with the financial support of FRED, the Funding Really Early Development table. FRED is a group of investors from local foundations, business and government who are jointly investing in high impact projects aimed at helping children get a good start in life.

The Ministry of Advanced Education and Labour Market Development has established a new program initiative, Workplace Training for Innovation Program, through the Strategic Training and Transition Fund. The program is designed to provide eligible employers with funding for employee training in order to:

Small organizations (less than 50 employees)
In good standing with the BC Corporate Registry
In existence for one year or more
In addition, organizations must certify that they would not undertake the training without financial assistance from the Province. Complete eligibility criteria is contained in the application form and program guidelines.
2009 Central Okanagan
Every aspect of a child’s environment, including secure relationships provides an opportunity to help grow a healthy and happy child. The 2009 State of the Child Report provides information on five elements of the Central Okanagan environment: Child Care, Early Learning, Family Economics & Wellbeing, Child-Friendly Cities, and Health.
The report aims to initiate discussions about how well our community is raising healthy children and encourage everyone to take action when and where they can.
